iZZY
Hi, I’m Izzy Espejo, and I am a multidisciplinary video artist and photographer based in New York.
As someone who enjoys seeing ideas come to life, for as long as I can remember, I’ve loved working with cameras. One of my earlier memories growing up was getting to use a camera during an annual take your kid to work day and shooting around midtown. Later learning how to make stop motion videos on my 3DS and edit videos on Cartoon Network's Mix It — It only felt natural to continue carrying out that playful curiosity as I grew older.
Since graduating from Emerson College with a BA in Media Arts Production, I’ve continued building skills around video editing, motion graphics, and photography while simultaneously bringing projects to life in a bright and professional manner.
I often find that I gravitate towards projects that emphasize community building. During my time in Boston, this manifested with projects like Girls Who Skate, a documentary, that showcased a local skate collective that created safe spaces for marginalized skaters. Being back home in NY, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Womxn’s Sports Rally in capturing their women’s sports watch parties for their social media.
