Hi! I’m Izzy Espejo, and am a multidisciplinary video artist and photographer based in New York.
MY STYLE:
I would describe my style as bright, authentic, and homespun.
I love creating a sense of nostalgic wonder through multimedia techniques like animation and digitization. This, coupled with my growing practice of color grading, sound design, and experimentation with composition, allows me to better connect with the process of creating my work and resonate more deeply with its themes.
THEMES IN MY WORK:
I often gravitate towards projects that emphasize joy and community and allow space for reflection.
During my time in Boston, this manifested in projects like Girls Who Skate, a documentary showcasing Lonely Bones, a skate collective creating safe spaces for marginalized skaters.
Since moving home to NY, I’ve carried these themes into new projects and collaborations, primarily showcasing the spaces within the queer community.
Most recently, I’ve had the pleasure of working with queer groups like the Womxn’s Sports Rally and companies like Kirrin Finch, assisting in creating social media content to amplify their missions.
